About Me
Hi, I’m Liam.
I’m a student and blogger from Melbourne, Australia. I am a graduate of Melbourne’s Bialik College, and the left-wing Zionist youth movement, Habonim Dror. In 2009 I was the chairperson of the Australian Zionist Youth Council, and in 2010 the national chairperson of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students. In 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Middle East Studies) from Deakin University, and am currently enrolled in the Executive Master of Arts graduate program at the University of Melbourne. I’m currently a board member of both AUJS and New Israel Fund Australia.
As you can see from the tag cloud, I mostly write about Israeli politics and society and contemporary Zionism. I’m a liberal Zionist; I firmly believe in the Jewish people’s right to self-determination in our historic homeland. I do, however, also believe that the Palestinians, native to that land for countless generations, also share a claim to the same piece of land. I firmly support a two-state solution — a democratic Jewish homeland living side-by-side with a Palestinian state. You can get more of a picture of how I feel about the subject by reading my posts on the subject.
I also blog about Australian politics, and, usually an afterthought, I like talking about technology and assorted gadgets and gizmos. Of course, the St Kilda footy club and cricket are two of my passions which you might find me writing about sometimes.
