Ehud Barak, speaking at Tel Aviv University:

“We are a coalition of 94 MKs, this is the time to lead a diplomatic process,” Barak said [...] “But if it isn’t possible to reach a permanent agreement with the Palestinians, we must consider an interim arrangement or even a unilateral move.”

I wonder what hawks, who contend that disengagement was a failure because of its unilateralism, say to the defence minister offering it up as an option for the West Bank?

I’ll put my cards on the table with a prediction. Now that Bibi can, I think he will finally make a serious move on the Palestinian front. He’ll leave the Iranian issue largely in the hands of the US — his grandstanding is what’s required from his end to try convince the Iranians he’s serious. But he has a chance to be a national hero. I don’t think he’ll pass that by.
